The foam body lessens the transfer of heat to the paint and it flexes to provide good contact with the paint surface.The lightweight 3M Hook-It 5 Inch Dual Action Backing Plate adds no real extra weight to the polisher to maintain optimum maneuverability. The beveled edge prevents contact between the backing plate and the paint. Hook and loop fasteners grip pads to prevent flying off or shifting.
